I specialize in expressive portraits of individuals, including professional headshots, actor portraits, creative/editorial shoots, and personal branding photography. The focus is always on natural expression, strong eye engagement, and images that feel authentic.
Sessions are great for actors, professionals, creatives, entrepreneurs, and anyone who wants portraits that look confident and alive. You do not need modeling or acting experience.
Not at all. I direct you throughout the session. Most people tell me this is the easiest and most comfortable shoot they’ve ever done.
Simply click the Book a Session link, choose a date and time, and complete payment online. Once you’re booked, I’ll personally reach out to go over details.
Pricing is explained on the booking page, but you simply pay a fee for the actual shoot, that covers my time, the equipment, the studio, supplies, drinks, etc. Then after the shoot we will go through your photos together, and you can pay to have your favorites professionally retouched, color-graded, and delivered. If you order a lot, we throw in some surprises.
Yes. Sessions are reserved with full payment at the time of booking to lock in your date and time.
The studio is in San Juan Capistrano, California, just off the 5 Freeway, about one hour south of Los Angeles. Parking is easy, and many clients travel 50+ miles to shoot here.
Yes. When you book a session, the studio is reserved exclusively for you. No walk-ins, no shared space, no distractions.
Most sessions range up to three hours, as it’s so fun, allowing wardrobe changes and creative goals.
Yes, all photographs are copyright David Perry, but your release will give you usage rights on any images you pay for.
Absolutely. After booking, we can do a quick call or email exchange to discuss goals, style, wardrobe, and usage so you feel fully prepared.
Once you’re booked, I’ll offer guidance based on the type of shoot you’re doing. If you’re unsure, bring options – we’ll decide together on set.
That’s fine, in fact we can help you find costume rental companies, some offer very elegant clothing as well.
Hair and makeup can be arranged separately if needed. If you already have someone you work with, you’re welcome to bring them. Consider Carie Webb as she’s great at makeup and styling clothes: https://www.cpwmakeupandstyling.com/about
Do you offer photo editing and retouching?
You’ll typically receive your images within 1–2 weeks. Rush delivery may be available depending on scheduling.
Final images are delivered digitally via a private online gallery where you can download them easily.
We take hundreds of photos, and you can purchase the ones you love the most.
Yes, after signing our release, you’re free to use your images for personal branding, acting submissions, websites, social media, and marketing, etc.
Yes, when appropriate. Seeing images during the shoot often helps clients relax and build confidence.
That’s completely normal – and very common. My job is to guide you, keep things relaxed, and help you forget about the camera.
If something comes up, reach out as soon as possible. You can reschedule or cancel as long as it’s more than 48 hours before the shoot.
All the time. Most people I photograph are not professional models. Experience is not required.
If you are under 18, then definitely bring a parent or guardian. If older than 18, I recommend not bringing people, unless they are doing your makeup or driving you.
I focus heavily on direction and expression. Instead of static posing, I use prompts and scenarios that engage your mind and create real, compelling and fun moments.
If something isn’t covered here, feel free to use the Contact page and I’ll be happy to help.
